Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Vibe Code Academy (“the App”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the App. The App is designed to work offline-first: most lessons, exercises, and progress tracking can work without an internet connection. Some features (such as sign-in/sync, subscriptions, ads, AI tutor, and content updates) require network access.

Information We Collect
The information we process depends on the features you use and whether you choose to enable online features.
1) Information you provide
- Account information (only if you sign in): such as email address and account identifiers you provide when you create or sign in to an account.
- Google Sign-In (optional): if you choose Google Sign-In, we may receive basic profile details (such as name, email, and a Google account identifier) as permitted by your Google settings and the permissions you approve.
- Support messages: if you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
- Learning inputs: your answers and code inputs in exercises/quizzes (used to grade attempts and provide feedback).
2) Information stored on your device (offline-first)
By default, the App stores learning-related data locally on your device to work offline. This may include:
- Lesson/card progress (e.g., last viewed card, completion status)
- Exercise attempts and results (e.g., correctness, timestamps, mastery state)
- Spaced repetition / review scheduling data (e.g., next due date, intervals, concept tags)
- Preferences/settings (e.g., selected track, app preferences)
3) Information transmitted off-device (only when you enable online features)
- Sign-in and sync (optional): if enabled, certain learning/progress data may be transmitted and stored so you can restore progress across devices.
- Subscriptions (optional): if you purchase premium via Google Play Billing, the App receives purchase/entitlement status from Google Play. If you use server-side entitlement verification, a purchase token may be sent to our backend to verify and maintain subscription status.
- Ads (optional, free tier): if ads are enabled, ad technology providers may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions (impressions/clicks/completions), and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.
- AI tutor (optional): if you use AI tutor features, prompts you submit and relevant learning context may be transmitted to our servers and/or an AI service provider to generate responses. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into prompts.
4) Diagnostics and security data
To maintain reliability and security, we may process:
- App/device information (e.g., app version) needed for compatibility
- Crash/diagnostic information (if enabled) to fix bugs and improve performance
- Security signals/logs needed to prevent abuse and protect the service (for online features)
How We Use Information
- Provide offline learning features (lesson rendering, grading, feedback, hints)
- Track progress and schedule reviews (spaced repetition)
- Enable account features (sign-in, sync, restore progress) when enabled
- Provide premium entitlements and manage subscriptions when enabled
- Deliver ads and measure ad performance when ads are enabled
- Provide AI tutor responses when enabled
- Maintain security, prevent fraud/abuse, and troubleshoot issues
- Respond to customer support requests
Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in these situations:
- Service providers (processors): vendors that help us operate the App (hosting, diagnostics, support). They process data under our instructions.
- Third-party services you choose to use:
- Google Play Billing (purchases/subscriptions)
- Google Sign-In (if you use it)
- Advertising providers (if ads are enabled)
- AI service providers (if AI tutor is enabled)
- Legal and safety: if required to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect users/public/our rights.
Data Retention
- On-device data: learning data stored locally remains on your device until you delete it (e.g., clear app storage) or uninstall the App.
- Account-linked data (if you sign in/sync): retained as long as needed to provide the App and related features. If you request deletion, we delete account-linked data unless we must retain limited information for legitimate purposes such as security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Your Choices
- Use offline/guest mode: you can use core learning features without creating an account.
- AI tutor: optional where available. Avoid sharing sensitive personal information in prompts.
- Ads: if ads are shown, ad providers may offer controls (depending on device/settings) to limit personalized advertising.
- Delete local data: uninstall the App or clear the App’s storage in your device settings.

If you created an account, you can request deletion of your account and associated data:

Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. For online features, data is transmitted over secure connections (such as HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at [email protected].
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App.
